Dosage: 1 subcutaneous or intramuscular injection of 1500~3000IU, the dosage for children is the same as that for adults, and the dosage can be increased by 1~2 times for severe injuries. After 5~6 days, if the risk of tetanus infection is not eliminated, the injection should be repeated.
[Adverse reactions] 1. Anaphylactic shock: It can occur suddenly during or within a few minutes to dozens of minutes after injection. The patient suddenly presents with depression or irritability, pale or flushing, chest tightness or wheezing, cold sweats, nausea or abdominal pain, rapid pulse, decreased blood pressure, and in severe cases, coma and collapse, and can die quickly if not rescued in time. Mild cases can be relieved by injection of epinephrine, while severe cases require infusion of oxygen, vasopressors to maintain blood pressure, and anti-allergic drugs and adrenocorticosteroids for rescue.
2. Serum sickness: the main symptoms are urticaria, fever, lymphadenopathy, local edema, occasional proteinuria, vomiting, joint pain, erythema, itching and edema at the injection site. Generally, the onset occurs 7~14 days after injection, which is called delayed type. There are also cases of onset 2~4 days after injection, which is called accelerated type. Calcium or antihistamine drugs can be used to deal with serum sickness, and it can usually be cured in a few days to more than ten days.
